Sometimes, inspiration comes easily. One day, Ava came downstairs with the most amazing rat’s nest of a wig in her hair I have seen. Alas, it was a school morning, so I couldn’t take advantage of it before it was brushed out.

We made a trip later to Hobby Lobby and purchased 3 or 4 styrofoam birds in a pack for a few dollars, and I set them aside. A couple of weeks ago, I found a bird’s nest on the sidewalk. Hurrah! Just what I needed. Unfortunately, I had some traveling to do and didn’t have time to make the photo.

Thanks to an a swim lesson and day old braid, Ava presented this evening with quite a lovely ‘do. She gamely agreed to change and put a bird’s nest and fake bird into her hair before climbing a tree. Alas, the bird wasn’t happy in its home and kept plunging to the ground. Thankfully, Ava’s twin sister would pick it up and try to secure it, although she was a little too short to firmly place it.

However, it was also Thérèse who found Ted (our outdoor kitty who can’t meow out loud). Scooping him up, she placed Ted into Bird Girl’s arms. Although this wasn’t the photo I had envisioned, I love the dichotomy of the bird and the kitten, especially as it looks like the bird is looking at the cat.
